CTET exam and TET exam 2017 notifications are releasing and now is the time to prepare a smart strategy to ace these very important examinations. Getting a good score will put you on a firm footing in your career as a teacher.

CTET exam or Central Teachers Eligibility Test is an initiative of the Central government and is conducted by the CBSE or Central Board for Secondary Education. This test was introduced as a criteria to set up a national standard in teacher recruitment and level of competence. CTET is valid for teaching jobs across India.

On the contrary the TET exam or the Teachers Eligibility Test is conducted by the state governments and is valid for teachers jobs in that particular state. As you plan and prepare yourself to take the CTET exam and the TET exam 2017 familiarize yourself with the pattern of the exams. The CTET exam is conducted in two levels, namely:

  • Paper I for teachers of class I to V
  • Paper II for teachers of class VI to VIII

Each paper is of two and a half hours duration and is an offline exam; that is a pen and paper test. Comprising of 150 objective type questions, in the multiple choice format; each correct answer carries one mark and there is no negative marking. The exam is conducted in five subjects. For Paper I they are as follows:

  • Child development and Pedagogy
  • Language 1 [usually English]
  • Language 2 [usually Hindi]
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies

Each subject having 30 questions.

For Paper II the compulsory subjects are as follows:

  • Child development and Pedagogy
  • Language 1 [usually English]
  • Language 2 [usually Hindi]

Optional subjects for a Science Teacher are

  • Mathematics
  • Science

Optional subjects for a Social Science Teacher are

  • Social Studies
  • Social Science

Each subject having 30 questions.

As you prepare for the CTET exam and TET exam 2017 acquaint yourself with the subjects. Apart from buying the relevant books, it is advisable to take professional coaching. Here are a few tips and smart strategies to ace the exam:

Make a chart

Go through the prescribed syllabus in each subject and plan your schedule by making a study time-table with specific times allotted to each subject. Refer to NCERT books of classes I to X.

Focus on important topics

Questions on child development and pedagogical subjects are asked throughout the tests, so make it your main stay by studying thoroughly. Knowledge of child psychology, special needs of a child and knowing the learning curve of children is important. Study “Thinkers Thoughts and Theories” as several questions are based on this subject. Cover topics like learning theories and Intelligence theories as you prepare to take the test.

Practice and practice some more

To understand the exam paper patterns take mock tests regularly. Make a note of your weaknesses and work on improving them. Solve the previous years’ question papers and evaluate your scores. Attempt easy questions first, then work on other answers, eliminating those answers which seem unlikely, thus arriving at the correct answers skilfully.

Make use of technology

It is advisable to take professional coaching to do well. Several e-books and video lessons are available which will help you prepare better. Study in a competitive atmosphere and join a crash course. Compare your scores with others to know where you stand. Highlight your shortcoming and take help of your tutors to evaluate yourself better.

Time is crucial

While solving mock exam papers time yourself. The CTET papers have a time limit so learn to solve the test papers in the allotted time. A good tip is to practise solving papers in a shorter time limit. This will help you to maintain the time limit during the exam.

Thanks TalentSprint for sharing these strategies for upcoming CTET 2017 exam. Last year i scored 92 Marks out of 150 marks as i comes under general category, did not get government teacher job..!
