The WE C5 Graduation Ceremony

Some moments leave a lasting impression, the ones that resonate deeply and remind you why certain journeys matter. The Women Engineers(WE) Cohort 5 graduation ceremony was one such experience. Beyond the celebration of learning, it was a testament to transformation, collaboration, and resilience.

From the moment WE learners walked in, the excitement was contagious. The event began with words of encouragement from TalentSprint’sleadership team - Asokan (WE Program Dean), the tech wizard himself, along with Rohit Agarwal, Chief Delivery Officer, and Sphoorthy, Program Director. This occasion wasn’t just limited to celebrating WE’s impact-  it was about the people who made it what it is, the learners who pushed boundaries, the mentors who stood by them, and the community that made every challenge worth it.

A Kaleidoscope of Learning

The spirit of collaboration was evident when a group of students presented their projects. A multi-level game, built collectively by 100+ learners. This project was a reflection of their ability to push boundaries, tackle challenges, and learn to work as one. But the best part? They turned their mentors into characters in the game, a fun, heartfelt tribute to those who had guided them every step of the way.

The insights shared by learners were the true highlight, revealing how WE transformed their journeys, turning self-doubt into confidence and uncertainty into opportunity. Many had moved cities, juggling college, WE classes, and internships, all while staying committed to their dreams. As they spoke, their passion was evident. For them, WE wasn’t just another program; it was a safe space, a launchpad, and, as one learner put it, “the best thing that has ever happened in my life.”

One learner’s story particularly stood out. Her dream of working at Google became a reality when she landed an internship. She recalled how different that first day felt. She wasn’t just another intern trying to find her footing. The work felt familiar, things made sense, and instead of feeling overwhelmed, she was excited to take on challenges. WE has shaped her journey in ways she hadn’t even realized, giving her the confidence to step in and start strong from day one.

Every learner mentioned their mentors, not just as guides but as pillars of support who helped them push forward, even on the toughest days. WE, to them, became more than a program, it was a space where they pushed each other forward, celebrated every milestone, and built friendships that would last a lifetime

One moment captured it all, learners signing each other’s shirts after receiving their certificates. A simple gesture, yet one that held so much meaning, a quiet promise to stay connected, and a reminder that while this chapter was completed, the bonds they built would stay with them wherever they went.

Looking Back at the Origins

In 2012, TalentSprint launched the Women in Software Engineering (WISE) program to bridge the gender gap in technology. Designed to equip women engineers with the latest industry skills and confidence, WISE was first introduced in partnership with BVRIT Hyderabad College of Engineering for Women. The goal was clear—to develop highly competitive professionals for the global tech industry. 

The WISE program later expanded to Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women, offering a structured parallel curriculum that provides hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies. By integrating industry-relevant skills with their academic education, WISE empowers students from emerging colleges who could compete with a pool of candidates coming from top-tier premier academic institutions.

The success of WISE proved that talent exists everywhere, it just needs the right platform. This realization led to the birth of the Women Engineers (WE) program in 2019, supported by Google, further strengthening the mission to enable women in tech. Today, WISE and WE together form a thriving, self-sustaining community of women engineers who are excelling in global technology roles, breaking barriers, and setting new benchmarks in the industry.
