He is an Assistant Professor in Finance and Control Group of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC). He is a fellow of Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. Before joining IIM Calcutta, he has had teaching stints at Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi and International Management Institute, Kolkata.
He teaches courses like Cost Management, Strategic Cost Management, and Financial Risk Management at Post Graduate level and Seminar Course on Research Methods in Finance and Accounting at doctoral level. His research interests are in the area of financial risk management and investment decisions.
He has authored a number of research articles in international journals of high repute such as Economics Letters, International Review of Financial Analysis, International Journal of Forecasting, Information and Management etc. He is also a certified cost accountant with seven years of industry experience in the domain of statutory reporting and microfinance. Samit is currently acting as the Program Chairperson of Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics at IIMC.
She is an Assistant Professor with the Public Policy and Management Group at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta where she teaches subjects like Indian Economic and Political History, Public Policy Evaluation, and Rethinking Education Policy.
She has completed her DPhil Education from the University of Cambridge (UK) and M.Sc. Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK). Prior to joining IIM-C, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School (USA). She has worked as a research consultant for the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge (UK), the Government Office for Science (UK), and the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), amongst others.
Prof. Bhutoria’s private sector experience includes working with Swiss Re Services Ltd. (London, Zurich) with their Financial Audit team; and PricewaterhouseCoopers Ltd. (India) with their Social Sector Advisory, mainly engaging with state governments across India and neighboring countries.
Prof. Bhutoria has been a Research Fellow at the Asian Century Foundation. She is currently a Research Advisor with the Global EdTech Hub (UK), research affiliate for the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), and an associate at the Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre at the University of Cambridge (UK), Open Development and Education Ltd. (UK), and the Social Informatics Group (IIM-C, India). She is also the coordinator for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) at IIMC.
