Rajesh Agrawal is a Professor of Practice in the Finance & Accounting area at IIM Udaipur since 2019. He is also the Chairperson of One Year MBA programs in Digital Enterprise Management and Global Supply Chain Management. He held the position of the Chairperson, Executive Education Programs at the Institute. Earlier, he worked as an Associate professor in the Finance and Accounting area at the IIM, Ahmedabad (IIMA). During his tenure at IIMA, he had held the position of the Chairperson of the Finance & Accounting area. He was also the CFO of ICRISAT, an organization set up under the aegis of the United Nations (Privileges and Immunities) Act.
During his academic career he has published in the discipline of accounting and control in both, national and international journals. At IIMA he was nominated for the ‘best teacher of the year’ award by the Institute. He has co-authored books on Accounting, published by McGraw Hill, and contributed book chapters.
He has been a consultant to several international organizations, such as, FAO, IFAD, CIDA, and Royal Netherlands Embassy, in the areas of mental health, education, microfinance, micro insurance, rural development, and co-operative management. He was also invited by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to review and recommend measures for cost control at Air India.
Apart from his functional discipline of finance and accounting, he is also keenly interested in the field of governance and management of social enterprises. He was a member of the board and Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee of the Association of International Agricultural Research Centers, Washington, USA, responsible for management of pension fund and insurance. He was also a member of the board of the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh, an international health research organization dedicated to saving lives through research and treatment in the areas of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
He was a member of the board of Friends of Women's World Banking, India, working in the area of microcredit for women and a trustee of Education Support Organisation, India focused on primary education for economically disadvantaged children in urban slums. He was also the Chairman of the board of the International School of Hyderabad.
By training, he is a professionally qualified chartered accountant and cost accountant, and a graduate of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
