Dr Raj Reddy

Chairperson, MSIT Program

Dr Raj Reddy is the chairperson of the MSIT Program and Moza Bint Nasser University Professor of Computer Science and Robotics in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.

Dr Reddy’s research interests include artificial intelligence and the study of human-computer interaction. His current research interests include Technology in Service of Society, Cognition Amplifiers and Guardian Angels, Digital Democracy, Universal Digital Archive, Voice Computing for the 3B semi-literate populations at the bottom of the pyramid, and KG to PG Micro-Universities.

Dr Reddy was awarded the Legion of Honor by President Mitterand of France in 1984 and Padma Bhushan by President of India in 2001. He was awarded the ACM Turing Award in 1994, the Okawa Prize in 2004, the Honda Prize in 2005, and the Vannevar Bush Award in 2006. He served as co-chair of the President’s Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC) from 1999 to 2001.

Praveen Garimella

Empowering the youth through technology-enabled personalized teaching and learning. This has been my core belief as the Associate Dean of Faculty Development, at the Consortium of Institutions of Higher Learning (CIHL), Hyderabad - a joint initiative by the universities of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in association with Carnegie Mellon University.

CIHL offers an innovative, multi-university and interdisciplinary post-graduate program - MSIT. Through this program, we focus on a ‘Learn by Doing’ framework wherein a fluid intermingling of theory and applied learning takes place enabling a more complete understanding of concepts.

Previously, as the Principal Mentor, I have been responsible and owned the design of the curricula for over a decade. Further, I have been instrumental in encouraging an interactive and discussion-oriented method of engagement between students and their courses, and have successfully established a competency-based assessment model. This learning method has been found to not only benefit students in comprehending concepts with improved clarity but also inspire unique problem-solving capabilities and unbridled confidence. I have designed and developed a learning management system to trace students' learning curve.

Prior to my stint at CIHL, I was the Associate Director at the Centre for Education Technology and Learning Science (CETLS) – a research center at IIIT-H involved in the R&D of the ‘Learning by Doing’ education methodology. I am the architect of the digital classrooms conducive to hands-on learning; and have also established teaching and learning protocols, and organized faculty development programs.

I have co-founded two companies Carnegie LbD and Tara Mobile Technologies. I was also a visiting research scholar at Carnegie Mellon University, focused on E-business technology training and conducted Education technology research. Currently, I’m pursuing my doctorate from the International Institute of Information Technology.

Dr Arun Kumar Parayatham

Dr Arun Kumar Parayatham is a Resource Principal Mentor and Associate Dean (Academics) at Consortium Institutions of Higher Learning, Hyderabad. He holds a Master of Technology degree in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from University of Hyderabad. He was awarded the prestigious National Board for Higher Mathematics, Department of Atomic Energy, Govt of India, Research Award for his Ph.D. program, and Post-Doctoral research at University of Hyderabad.

He has more than two decades of experience in teaching and mentoring students at various institutions, including University of Hyderabad and MSIT Division, IIIT Hyderabad. He brings the best content available and motivates students to achieve international standards by assimilating knowledge and technology coupled with excellent problem-solving skills hands-on. He is passionate about collaborating with industry and expose students to the industry environment early and work on finding solutions to challenging problems. He started offering Data Science Specialisation way back in 2011 and trained more than 300 students in Data Science. He is working on projects for developing AI tools like engaging students, continuous monitoring and guiding students, automated evaluation, and helping students to do their best in online education.

Deepak Kumar Reddy

Deepak has been a teaching at MSIT for nearly four years. organizes courses across Algorithms and Data Structures, Computer Science Principles and Programming, Database Management Systems

As a mentor, he as trained over 80 students across various disciplines such as: Algorithms and Data Structures, Introduction to Computer Science, Computer Science Principles and Programming, Introduction to Data Science, Database Management System, Object-Oriented Programming, Computer Networks, Cyber Security, Web Programming, Mobile Programming, 100-day Competitive Programming Challenges, Cloud Computing, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Computational Thinking.

Deepak is an alumnus of the MSIT Program, having graduated in 2017. He brings forth a strong focus on analytical skills and a relentless passion to teach the next generation of programmers.
