• Previously worked as Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Chicago, USA, where he also taught medical students at the university’s Pritzker School of Medicine.
• Professor leads a research lab at IISc that conducts research in Sirtuins, a family of histone deacetylases. Under his leadership, the lab performs experiments to disclose new biological functions of Sirtuins that can be therapeutically targeted for promoting the health span of the heart.
• In 2019, he was conferred with the National Bioscience Award for Career Development 2019 and NASI-Scopus Young Scientist Award 2019 in the field of Biomedical Research and Healthcare.

Prof. Mahavir Singh

• After completing his Ph.D. from Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry and Technical University, Munich in Germany, he worded as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
• He leads the SinghM Lab of the Molecular Biophysics Unit at IISc and currently guiding currently 10+ Ph.D. students under his mentorship. Several students have graduated with PhD and BS/Ms degrees from his lab. SinghM lab has also trained a number of postdoctoral fellows and other trainees.
• SinghM lab probes protein - nucleic acids interactions, involved in various cellular processes, using classical biophysical methods such as ITC, NMR etc.

• An AIIMS (Delhi) alumnus, he was an American Heart Association postdoctoral fellow at Washington University at St. Louis Medical School . He leads ‘The SAInI lab’, an acronym for Signalling in Aging, Inflammation and Infection, the three paradigms that the lab works on.
• Under his mentorship, the lab guides a diverse group of postdoctoral research scholars, regular and integrated Ph.D. students, and interdisciplinary students from other disciplines at IISc.

• He served as Susan G. Komen postdoctoral Fellow at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, University of California, USA.
• He leads The Morphogenesis Group at IISc, which conducts experiments in development and disease pathogenesis
• He received the Prof. Priti Shankar Award for excellence in teaching from IISc in 2020.
